LACED BOOKS a collaboration by Ross Gardam and Keith Melbourne

Objects of beauty with a sense of history, the millions of old books in circulation unfortunately have little or no application today. Whilst they are of a higher quality than todays mass-produced books, their content is often of little relevance, and they are generally found collecting dust in second hand stores or destined for landfill.  Laced Books became an exploration of how to reinterpret these objects, giving them a second life. With the original content removed the books have become beautiful enclosures for a variety of modern day objects.  From 9 to 5 Keith Melbourne & Ross Gardam are independent product designers engaged in commercial projects. Laced books was conceived as a collaborative hands-on project for fun, a creative exploration outside normal commercial limitations.  The Laced Books project produced plenty of laughs and a limited edition run of 50 individually numbered copies.

SLIP TOGETHER a collaboration by Emu Concepts and Ecoresonance/Good Human

The first two pieces of the SLIP TOGETHER range have come about through playful model making and prototyping sessions in a workshop studio at the very shared and sharable Irene Collective in Brunswick and helpful CNC machine piloted by Alex Earl at Monkey CNC in Collingwood following a brief from Asta Pubblica for ’shelves and tables’.
